クアラルンプール：2010年11月18日―マレーシアは10月4日の「世界建築の日」（世界建築会議 UIAが提唱。http://www.uia-architectes.org/）初参加を記念し、約1カ月間の「マレーシア建築家展」を開催します（開催期間は10月4日から11月30日。 http://www.architectsmalaysia.com.my/）。当展示会はマレーシア建築家協会（Pertubuhan Akitek Malaysia、会長ブーン・チェ・ウィー、以下「PAM」）により運営されています。テーマは「ベター・シティーズ、ベター・ライブズ―デザインによる持続可能性とは?」です。当展示会ではPAMゴールドメダル受賞者、国際賞受賞者、マレーシア公共事業局のプロジェクトなど、80件以上の国内外建築プロジェクトを紹介しています。展示会ではまた、建築家という職業がPAMにおいて組織化された1920年代以降のマレーシア建築の変遷も紹介しています。
「マレーシアの『世界建築の日』の初参加に際し、PAMとして参加できたことは非常な喜びです。PAMはマレーシア建築家の業績と、そうした作品を通じて国の開発に貢献してきたことを誇りに思っています。当展示会によってマレーシア建築家の実力とその作品に対する人々の認知が上がることでしょう。作品のいくつかは今やマレーシアの代表的ランドマークとなっています」と10月4日での展示会開催に於いてブーン会長は挨拶しました。「展示会はクアラルンプールのジャラン・タングシに位置するPAMセンターにて開催され、クアラルンプールが建築業界のセンターの一つとして発展する可能性をアピールします。ムルデカ・スクエア（独立広場）にほど近いPAMセンターは、クアラルンプールの現代建築・芸術センターへと変わる可能性があると思います」
「世界建築の日」はクアラルンプール市長ダト・スリ・アーマド・ファド・イスマイルによって正式に祝われました。PAMはまたこの記念日に合わせ、『近代マレーシアを形作った者たち、PAMゴールド・メダリストの軌跡と作品』という書籍を発売します。本書はPAMゴールドメダルに輝いた5人（ダト・キングトン・ルー、故ダト・ヒシャム・アルバクリ、リム・チョン・キート、ヒジャス・カツリ、ダト・バハルッディン・アブ・カシム）をカバーしています。

Malaysia Celebrates World Day of Architecture by Holding Architects Malaysia Exhibition

KUALA LUMPUR: November 18. 2010. Malaysia will celebrate “World Day of Architecture” (declared by UIA. http://www.uia-architectes.org/） for the first time with the launch of the month-long Architects Malaysia Exhibition on Oct 4 (Opening period is Oct.4-Nov.30. http://www.architectsmalaysia.com.my/） .The exhibition is organized by the Malaysian Institute of Architects (PAM) and carries the theme “Better Cities, Better Lives Sustainable by Design?” The exhibition will showcase more than 80 architectural projects from Malaysia and abroad, including PAM Gold Medal Award Winners, international award-winners, and those from the Malaysian Public Works Department. It also includes a timeline on the evolution of architecture in the country since the profession was first institutionalized here in the 1920s.
PAM president Boon Che Wee said PAM is excited to be a part of Malaysia debut participation in the World Day of Architecture celebrations. We are proud of the achievements of Malaysian architects and also of their commitment in developing the country through their works. PAM hopes the exhibition will increase the awareness of Malaysian architects' capabilities and works, which some are now major landmarks in the country, he said at the launch of the exhibition on Oct 4. Boon added that the exhibition would be held at the PAM Centre on Jalan Tangsi, Kuala Lumpur to demonstrate the potential of the venue to be developed as a center of architecture. With its proximity to Dataran Merdeka, we believe there is the possibility to transform PAM Centre into the Centre for Contemporary Architecture and Arts for Kuala Lumpur, he said.
The launch was officiated by Kuala Lumpur Mayor Datuk Seri Ahmad Fuad Ismail.In conjunction with the World Day of Architecture, PAM also launched a book entitled “Shapers of Modern Malaysia - The Lives and Works of the PAM Gold Medallists,” crediting the five recipients of the PAM Gold Medals - the late Datuk Ar Kington Loo, the late Datok Ar. Hisham Albakri, Datuk Seri Ar. Lim Chong Keat, Ar. Hijjas Kasturi, and Datuk Ar. Baharuddin Abu Kassim.
